There is too many people populating the Earth. The human race is growing at a speed higher than ever before. 353,000 babies are born a day and the number isn't slowing down. China implemented the one-child policy in 1979 to try to slow population growth and ended it in the beginning of 2016. China was able to scale back the size of their population because of this controversial policy. While it succeeded in population control it left many unintended side effects, such as the disproportional number of women and men, the little emperors phenomenon and other social consequences.
With this many people on the planet there is a strain on resources, access for clean water and enough food is limited. We are in danger of running out of power and polluting the planet in the process due to our reliance on non renewable energy such as coal and oil.
And one of the most disastrous consequences of overpopulation is the effect on the environment. We are causing the extinction of other animals, burning down entire forests, overfishing and polluting the oceans and releasing greenhouse gases into the environment at a rate never before experienced.
